Details

The Faculties of Environment and Fisheries collaborated on smart mangrove monitoring using drones and satellites for aerial imaging, along with salinity and water quality sensors to assess ecosystem recovery.

All data was integrated into the university GIS for spatial analysis and academic reporting, while over 150 local community members were trained in applying these technologies for conservation management.

In the first year, mangrove density increased by 28%, more than 20 aquatic species returned, and researcher–community networks were established for co-management. The project supports SDG 14 and SDG 15, and fulfills 2025 indicators 96, 210, and 111.
