Details

To curb waste and unnecessary procurement, the university launched “Circular Labs,” a campus hub for repairing electronics, furniture, and research tools, plus a material-exchange platform across departments. QR-coded asset tracking and a digital registry exposed real-time inventories, cutting duplicate purchases and extending asset lifetimes.

Weekly workshops taught basic repair, soldering, and upcycling of wood and metals, alongside safety practices. Researchers piloted recycled feedstock for 3D printing and tested mechanical properties to set reuse standards for real-world applications.

By end-2024, 2,400 items were repaired, avoiding ~THB 5.1M in new purchases; e-waste fell 31%, and over 28 tons of surplus materials were recirculated. The project advances SDG 12 with innovation under SDG 9 and carbon benefits under SDG 13, fulfilling 2024 indicators 34 and 96.
